Just for Fun Around Town Spring

The Downtown Knoxville mural signals a change in the season, and we're so excited to bring you the latest edition!

Artist MeganLingerfelt finds inspiration in nature – and it’s filled with surprises! This season’s mural bursts with shades of green, celebrating the fresh energy of spring, while wild violets bring pops of purple.

But the real mystery? That bright orange newt! Keep an eye out—this little critter is a hint of something fun coming to Downtown Knoxville this summer. Any guesses?

Artist Megan Lingerfelt explains her inspiration behind this piece, “This seasonal installment celebrates the wild violets in my garden and the buzzing, chirping, and slithering signs of life showing up after winter.”

The 2025 spring mural—part of Dogwood Arts' Art in Public Places Mural Program—is the 22nd in the series by Megan.

The seasonal mural serves as a fun photo backdrop for both residents and visitors celebrating the changing seasons. It's located at the south end of Strong Alley, between Market Square and Gay Street (near local-favorite Coffee & Chocolate).

Grab your photo with this mural the next time you’re in Downtown Knoxville and share on social media using the hashtag #LoveDowntownKnox. Check out a few of our past seasonal murals in the gallery below.

See you downtown for a busy spring! ðŸŒ¼
